The Key to Successful Qui Tam Actions

Government intervention often is the key to a successful Qui Tam action and Timothy J. McInnis Esq.'s experience as a federal prosecutor can make a difference to whistleblowers:
  • in the initial stages of a Qui Tam matter, as the law firm assesses potential claims and conducts preliminary investigations; and
  • later, when Qui Tam experience as an assistant U.S. Attorney helps in presenting compelling cases to United States Attorneys and the U.S. Department of Justice and in negotiating the whistleblower's reward.

From having been an Assistant U.S. Attorney, McInnis knows what Government attorneys are looking for as they are deciding whether to intervene in cases filed under the federal False Claims Act.

Complex and Sophisticated Lawsuits
The McInnis firm also is experienced in handling complex and sophisticated lawsuits. Before joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, McInnis was a litigator at two of the nation's largest law firms. Earlier, he served as an Enforcement Attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, during which he investigated and prosecuted large financial institutions.

A Personal Service Commitment to Whistleblowers
In addition to the legal experience McInnis and his attorneys bring to a case he has committed his firm to providing attentive service to his clients. Whistleblower suits often are long, drawn-out battles. During a Qui Tam action "relators" (the legal term for private citizens who engage the firm to bring suits exposing fraud) frequently have personal, financial and career concerns that are as important as legal issues to them. McInnis and the attorneys in his office are dedicated to giving clients the personal and compassionate representation any relator would expect under these circumstances.
